Sorry there hasn't been a blog for a little while. I have some big changes to report though.
My feeding tube is GONE.
Yes...GONE! I have been eating enough big kid food (and still a little "baby" food), and I don't need it anymore. Mom took it out last Monday, as planned. We are hoping and praying the place where the tube was will close on its own and I won't need surgery. We will see the surgeon in Pittsburgh this week to evaluate the progress.
[Mom and Dad are writing this part]
It is impossible to convey the feelings of joy and wonderment we share as parents in watching our little girl eating her breakfast these days. We can vividly remember the doctor telling us at midnight the day Macy came into our lives that she had a cleft palate. We had no idea what that brief conversation would bring.
Yet here we are. We have come such a long way, and we still have a long road ahead of us in this area (i.e. some residual feeding disorder issues to work out). Regardless, it is important to recognize how important this change is for Macy. She has had a feeding tube since she was only a week old. How do you put the past nearly five years into words?
Macy said it best when we were out shopping this weekend. She asked to go home because she was hungry and wanted a snack. This is actually a shockingly new experience to us, and we are so thankful. We are grateful beyond words for all of you who have kept us in your prayers and given us support. Thank you family, thank you friends, and thank you Miss Cindy.
[Me again]
While it's certainly big news about no longer having a feeding tube, I should catch you up on some of the other things going on. I went to soccer camp!
It was organized by our community's parks and recreation department.
It was really hot, but I had a lot of fun.
I saw some of my friends at camp from school and made some new friends too!.
Mom and Dad even came to see me play in the big games at the end of each week!
After the games, I got to go to Dairy Queen for some ice cream!
I really like vanilla ice cream cones.
Mom and Dad like ice cream cones too!
Dad probably likes ice cream cones a little too much.
I also went to our community's festival! It was a whole lot of fun.
I rode all of the rides and met my friend Cassidy and neighbor Elliott there!
Everyone had a great time. Cassidy and I danced to some of the music.
At the end of the day, we watched fireworks with my neighbor Elliott and his parents. We all sat on a big grassy hill. My favorite part was the finale.
I even made some wishes at a wishing fountain this week. Here are some of my wishes:
Be a good swimmer.
Do big cannonballs.
Have the moon wink at me.
Eat big person food.
Be a good eater.
That's it for now. Sorry I missed a couple of weeks there. But, keep watching because it goes by fast.
XOXO everyone!
