Wow! What a fun three day weekend! We started our weekend by celebrating Dad's 42nd birthday.
For dinner, we had spaghetti and meatballs and apple pie.
The next day we went to a farmer's market that had a pumpkin patch. I'm carrying the perfect little pumpkin that I found.
Right before this picture was taken, Dad handed me a fuzzy caterpillar.
I knew I couldn't keep him so I gently put him back where he belongs.
Speaking of things that are fuzzy .... look at this rabbit!
It is an Angora bunny. She was so soft and fluffy!
We took it easy on Sunday and stayed around the house. But on Monday we went to Shenandoah National Park to see a waterfall.
It wasn't a very long hike but it was downhill one way and straight back up going the other way.
Even Elizabeth came along for the hike. Mom is holding her for the picture, but she walked the entire way, just over 2 1/2 miles.

She really had a good time. There were lots of chipmunks and squirrels to sniff out.
Elizabeth turned out to be a great hiking companion.
Ever the aspiring geologist, I found quite a bit of quartz along the trail and in the creek.
As we made our way back to the parking lot look what we saw! This deer was standing in the middle of the trail. I wish we could have stayed longer but it was time to go home.

This is me just being me. It was a terrific weekend. We really had a great time together as a family. Dad said it was his best birthday ever.
