Daisy

We are writing with great sadness to tell you that Daisy, a beloved member of our family, passed away.

It is impossible to put into words how much she is missed, and what she has meant to our family over these past 15 years.

Jill found Daisy Clarksville, Tennessee.  She was the only female in a litter of rambunctious puppies.  She payed little attention to her littermates; she was more interested in finding a human to play and snuggle up with.  From the moment Jill saw her, Daisy whined at the front of her cage until she was picked up and put on Jill's lap - where she promptly fell asleep.  Jill had found our dog, and Daisy found a home.

Daisy was there for Jill when Ryan was deployed to Egypt after only being married a few months.  She chased squirrels in Georgia.  She hiked with us up and down Cheyenne Canyon's trails in Colorado.  She filled our family with unconditional love and constant companionship.

While living in Indiana, we added another member of the family, Macy Rose.

It took a little while, but Daisy warmed up to Macy...and Macy looooooved her Daisy buddy.

Like any dog, Daisy found her way into mischief sometimes.  She destroyed her fair share of baby gates as she escaped the kitchen in Tennessee.  She also loved to get into the trash while we were gone from our house.  She was stubborn, curious, and quirky...and we loved her.

But one thing that stood out even more was the way she always knew when we were upset or not feeling well.  She would jump up on our lap and comfort us as if to say that everything would be alright after a little snuggle.  She was always there for us.

Whenever we came home or approached her, we loved seeing her happy, waggy tail.

I has been a little over a week since she passed away.  We miss her tremendously.

For the past year we carried her up and down stairs.  She was just a little too old to negotiate them herself.  Over the past week Jill and I both found ourselves pausing at the first step as if we had forgotten something.  It's hard to let go of a routine that was such a happy part of our lives.

As time goes by the hurt from her loss will fade, and give way to only the best memories we shared.  We gave her a home, but Daisy gave us much, much more.  She was our dog and we loved her.  We always will.

I am so sorry for your loss of Daisy. She was such a good, special dog and was so sensitive to humans' feelings. She loved the three of you so much and she was definitely loved back. You gave her a good life.
We all have warm memories of Daisy. Just the sight of her made us smile. We all miss her. She was an important part of the family and we will never forget her. In time, you will remember all the great times you had with Daisy. Know that she was a very lucky dog, as you cared for her so much and gave her such a good life. Her life was filled with love. She was special.
Love,
Grandma R.
